Frequently Asked Questions:

Is a referral from a family doctor necessary to visit a practitioner at Coastal Health Arts Clinic?

Referrals are not required although some patients are referred by their M.D. We also accept ICBC and WCB claims. The clinic also provides care for injuries related to motor vehicle accidents and work related injuries.

What do I need to bring with me on the first visit?

On your first visit bring all the information related to registration, including your MSP card.

How far in advance should I book an appointment?

Appointments should be booked as soon as possible enabling us to schedule you at a convenient time.

Do all of Coastal Health Arts Clinic practitioners take new patients ? If so, who should I ask to see?

When you make an appointment, you can request to see any of the practitioners available. Our Front Team Assistant will help you to see the appropriate practitioner.

What is the length of an appointment?

The length of the appointment can vary anywhere between ten minutes to half an hour. The first consultation is approximately 40 minutes since a detailed history and examination is done. The following visits vary in length, depending on your condition and your practitioner's assessment.

What are the fees for the treatments?

These vary depending on your age and other factors. Our Front Team Assistant will be able to explain your particular fee structure.

What financial Coverage is available to cover the cost of clinic services?

Consult your extended health care plan which will provide you this information as it varies with each provider. Some financial coverage is provided for persons whose yearly net income is below $20,000 per year. You must apply to the Ministry of Health for this coverage.

    Do I need x-rays?

X-rays are generally recommended for persons whose condition is long term and when trauma is involved. X-rays are also often recommended following a motor vehicle accident or work injury since they increase your practitioner's ability to help you in your health care. X-rays are never done during pregnancy.
